Our Fabrics

At Lav and Kush, we strive to use sustainable fabrics as much as possible. While we do bring in seasonal sweaters imported from the U.S. since it is rare to find Canadian knitted sweaters, the majority of Lav and Kush designs are fabricated in Oeko Tex certified fabrics.  Oeko tex certified refers to the life cycle of the fabric.  The fabrics must be traceable, free from harmful chemicals, sustainably produced and dyed with low impact fibre reactive dyes. Oeko Tex is a 3rd party standard global testing system certifying textiles. We have 3 main fabric suppliers in Canada who are committed to representing sustainable fabrics.  Read about Oeko Tex certification here.

Because who doesn't want to live in fabric softer than their favourite P.J's?   We believe you can feel as comfy as a cloud while in work wear, evening wear or lounging around. Lav and Kush is well known for incredible, soft, breathable natural fabrics, married with versatile design.   You will not find a more comfortable piece of clothing!

Our core fabric - Bamboo/Spandex - 95% rayon from bamboo 5% spandex. 

Rayon from bamboo is an amazing fabric. It is naturally anti microbial, breathable, easy to care for and extremely "next level" soft. It is dyed using low impact fibre reactive dyes meaning it uses less chemicals and energy than conventional dyes and will remain colour fast for years to come. Bamboo fabric resists fading and pilling. Lastly, it is Oeko-Tex certified which makes it an excellent sustainable choice.   

Bamboo fabric has an excellent wicking ability that will pull moisture away from the skin making it optimal for both hot and cool climates, bamboo clothing offers built-in temperature control. It traps warm air in its cross-sectional fibres to keep you warm in the winter, while its breathable nature and wicking properties keep moisture at bay for greater comfort in hot times.    Most all our rompers are in this gorgeous fabric. Washing instructions- Machine wash cold, lay flat to dry.


Light Sweater Knit - Rayon/Cotton/Modal/Spandex - 65% Rayon/19%Cotton/14% Modal/2% Spandex.  

We have used this beautiful, buttery soft, lightweight sweater knit for years.  It is breathable, has great drape and washes like a dream.  Pill resistant, this beautiful fabrics works best with our Graceful Tunic and Everyday Crew Neck top.  Easy to care for, this fabric is a dream.  Shop  here

Eco Vero Ponte di Roma Knit - *65% Eco Vero rayon/ 30% Nylon/5% Spandex.

*Lenzing Eco Vero are branded viscose fibres made by sustainability textile icon Lenzing. Their fibres come from certifiable renewable wood sources and created using eco responsible manufacturing processes.  Read more about it  here.

This fabric is well known for superior softness, drape, function ( it washes incredibly well) pill resistant and colourfast.   The best selling Everything Ponte pant is the perfect design for this fabric.  It will last a lifetime, keeps it shape, colour and soft hand.

Each Fall, we import a variety of sweaters to compliment our collection.  The partners we buy from source small factories overseas and carefully consider transparency and ethical production.
